US Treasury Secretary Issues Warning on Iranian Airlines
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has cautioned businesses about the risks of working with Iranian airlines that are under sanctions. In a message shared on social media, he emphasized that this warning is part of broader efforts to increase economic pressure on Iran amid ongoing conflicts.
Bessent made it clear that engaging in business with these sanctioned airlines could lead to serious consequences from the US government. He urged foreign nations to take necessary steps to prevent companies within their borders from offering services to these airlines, including crucial support like jet fuel, catering, landing fees, and maintenance.
“The Treasury will maintain strong pressure on Iran and will take action against any third parties that assist or engage in business with Iranian companies,” Bessent stated.
In related news, flights have resumed from Tehran, marking a new chapter for air travel in the region.
