Employee Tragedy at Tokyo Theme Park

A routine maintenance job turned tragic at a theme park in Tokyo when a worker became trapped inside the mechanism of a ride and later died. The incident took place at Tokyo Dome City Attractions on the “Flying Balloon” ride on a Tuesday.

The park’s management reported that the employee, identified as 24-year-old Kamimura Hina, got stuck while working on the ride’s gondola mechanism. Despite rescue efforts that lasted around five hours, she was declared dead at a nearby hospital.

Local media outlet NHK World Japan provided details about the accident. During a monthly safety check, the ride’s seats were elevated, allowing Kamimura and her colleagues to inspect the machinery. Unfortunately, it is believed that the seats suddenly dropped while she was on a stepladder, pinning her against a support pillar.

The company expressed its deep sorrow over the incident, offering condolences to Kamimura’s family and addressing the anxiety caused to park visitors.

In light of this tragedy, all rides at the park have been temporarily closed. The company is working with authorities, including police and fire services, to understand what went wrong and to prevent future accidents.
