KYIV: A Russian attack on the Ukrainian city of Odesa on Sunday morning resulted in at least five injuries, according to local officials. This incident came just a day after another strike in the same city claimed two lives.
Odesa, which is vital for Ukraine’s shipping and exports, has been regularly targeted by Russian missile and drone strikes in recent months. The head of the Odesa military administration, Serhiy Lysak, shared on Telegram that residential areas in multiple districts were damaged, and authorities are currently evaluating the full extent of the destruction.
On Saturday morning, a Russian drone attack hit an apartment building in Odesa, leading to two fatalities and injuring 26 others. Additionally, reports indicated that various regions in western Ukraine were also attacked, with assaults continuing through the night and into the early hours of Sunday. However, local officials have not yet reported any civilian casualties from these incidents.
