The Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) has recently addressed the confusion surrounding a ruling made by the Bombay High Court. This ruling involves a dispute between Saffron Magicworks Private Limited, led by Nikhil Dwivedi, and Andolan Films Private Limited, headed by Vikramaditya Motwane. IMPPA is also part of the ongoing proceedings.
In its announcement, IMPPA pointed out that several reports and communications have misinterpreted the details and implications of the High Court’s order. They clarified that their role in this matter is strictly tied to their responsibilities as outlined in their governing documents.
The association noted that the conflict between Saffron Magicworks and Andolan Films has been brought before IMPPA’s Dispute Resolution Committee. Any resolutions or decisions from this committee pertain specifically to the disagreement and the issues at hand.
IMPPA emphasized that it does not hold any independent commercial interest in the dispute between the two companies. They encouraged everyone to view the High Court’s ruling based solely on its explicit terms.
Responding to claims that restrictions have been placed on its operations, IMPPA stated, “There is no general order preventing IMPPA from fulfilling its institutional duties.” They expressed that many of the reports currently circulating do not accurately convey the court’s directives or their significance.
The association firmly stated it will not accept any interpretations of the court’s ruling that extend beyond what was clearly articulated by the High Court. They reassured that IMPPA would continue to meet its obligations under the law and follow the court’s instructions.
This clarification comes amidst discussions regarding the ongoing legal battle involving Saffron Magicworks and Andolan Films. IMPPA’s statement serves to separate its institutional responsibilities from the commercial conflict between the two parties, clarifying its own position in relation to the court’s directives.
