Norwegian biathlete Sturla Holm Laegreid has found himself in the spotlight once again, not just for his athletic achievements but also for some controversial remarks made during a recent interview. After securing his second bronze medal in the men’s sprint event—finishing just 0.2 seconds ahead of Emilien Jacquelin—Laegreid’s comments provided fodder for heated exchanges.

This latest incident is particularly notable as it follows Laegreid’s controversial admission about cheating on his ex-girlfriend during a post-race interview earlier this month. He spoke emotionally about meeting someone special and then later making a mistake in the relationship. Laegreid stated, “I had the gold medal in life,” stressing that his thoughts have been focused on his personal life rather than his sport.
His comments drew criticism for potentially overshadowing the accomplishments of his teammates, especially Johan-Olav Botn. Laegreid’s ex-girlfriend, choosing to remain anonymous, reacted to the situation but opted not to engage with the media frenzy.
