USS Gerald R. Ford Heads to Middle East Amid Tensions with Iran
The USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier is set to move from the Caribbean Sea to the Middle East. This redeployment comes as President Trump considers military options regarding Iran, according to a U.S. official.
This shift will place two aircraft carriers in the region, alongside their support ships. The USS Abraham Lincoln and three guided-missile destroyers have already been in the Middle East for over two weeks.
Initially launched on its mission in June 2025, the USS Ford was sent to the Caribbean last fall as the U.S. aimed to bolster its military presence in anticipation of actions against Venezuela and its leader, Nicolás Maduro.
Recently, Trump warned Iran that failing to negotiate a deal over its nuclear program could lead to serious consequences. He emphasized to reporters that a quick agreement is crucial.
During a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump underscored the importance of continuing negotiations with Iran. Netanyahu is urging the U.S. to pressure Iran to limit its ballistic missile development and cease support for terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah.
As tensions rise, the focus remains on diplomatic solutions while maintaining a strong military presence in the region.
