Honeywell Embraces Artificial Intelligence for Real-World Applications

Honeywell, a major technology company, is increasingly incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into real-world projects. According to a report from Bloomberg News, this trend is growing rapidly.

Anant Maheshwari, the president and CEO of Honeywell’s global regions, shared that many businesses began adopting “physical AI” last year. He mentioned that over 200,000 sites—like airports, hospitals, and factories—are now using these AI tools to improve energy efficiency and productivity.

“Every building needs to be energy efficient. It also needs better safety, security, and productivity for its users,” Maheshwari explained.

Honeywell isn’t alone in highlighting the advantages of physical AI. In July, JLL, a leader in real estate, warned that companies could miss out on significant savings by not using AI to manage their workspaces and facilities effectively. They mentioned that ongoing costs in commercial real estate, like rent and utility bills, could be reduced by using AI to pinpoint inefficiencies.

By addressing these inefficiencies, companies can renegotiate leases, better utilize their spaces, and optimize energy consumption.

Last year, a report also noted other applications of physical AI. For instance, Amazon is using its Vulcan robot, while Walmart has integrated AI systems throughout its distribution channels. Additionally, GXO Logistics is expanding its AI pilots. These implementations illustrate how businesses are utilizing physical AI not just as experiments but as essential parts of their operations to improve efficiency and monitor workflow in real-time.

Maheshwari added that Honeywell is applying insights gained during the pandemic to strengthen its supply chains. He observed that global trade is pivoting toward more bilateral agreements, meaning companies are moving away from standard global supply chains. He described the pandemic as a wake-up call to develop supply chains that can better function in local ecosystems. As a result, Honeywell feels prepared to handle the uncertainties that come with these changes.

In summary, Honeywell is paving the way for broader AI applications in various sectors, aiming to enhance operational efficiency while adapting to a changing global landscape.
