Manchester United’s Manager Highlights Rashford’s Positive Return
Manchester United’s manager, Michael Carrick, has spoken highly of Marcus Rashford’s dedication and fitness after the young forward returned from his loan at Barcelona. However, questions remain about Rashford’s long-term future at Manchester United.
Last season, Rashford played for Barcelona, where he helped the team clinch the title. He had previously struggled for playing time at United under the former manager, Ruben Amorim. Rashford also had a loan spell at Aston Villa before heading to Spain.
As the new Premier League season kicks off, Rashford’s situation has become a hot topic. Carrick has noticed impressive changes in Rashford since he resumed training.
“From the moment Marcus came back for training with Kobbie (Mainoo) and Licha (Lisandro Martinez) in Dublin, it’s clear he has returned in fantastic shape,” Carrick told reporters ahead of United’s upcoming match against Hull City.
“He’s enjoying his football, looking fit and sharp, and seems ready to play. I’m very pleased with his performance since his return.”
Rashford Set to Contribute
Rashford rejoined the Manchester United squad during their recent training camp in Ireland and made his pre-season debut against AC Milan in Wroclaw, coming on as a substitute in the second half.
Carrick also mentioned that Rashford is capable of playing as a central forward if needed, though he didn’t label it as his primary position.
“Yes, he can play through the middle, and he has done that before,” Carrick stated. “I wouldn’t say that’s his main role, but he is versatile enough to do it. We have several forwards who can adapt to various positions.”
As discussions about Rashford’s future continue, the forward expressed his desire to focus solely on football, wishing to avoid constant speculation about his position.
Meanwhile, Manchester United is actively working to bolster its squad ahead of the September 1 transfer window. New signings include Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans and Brazilian international Andrey Santos, with ongoing talks regarding Brighton’s Carlos Baleba.
The positive reports from Carrick about Rashford’s return are encouraging, but they still leave unanswered questions about whether he will stay at Old Trafford after the transfer window closes.
Rashford may have the chance to prove himself when United opens their Premier League season against newly promoted Hull City on Saturday. He famously scored a decisive goal during United’s last match at Hull in the 2016-17 season.
