The much-awaited fifth installment of the popular Golmaal series, titled Golmaal 5, is set to start filming soon. Reports indicate that a lengthy shooting schedule will kick off towards the end of February 2026.
Sources have revealed that director Rohit Shetty is constructing multiple sets for the movie, including a café, a police station, and a grand residence at Film City in Mumbai. While he typically prefers to shoot in locations like Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad or Goa, for this film, he has chosen the convenience of Film City. This will allow the cast to easily commute from their homes to the set.
There were discussions about expanding the set even further by filling a lake within Film City, but this idea was rejected due to environmental concerns. The lake is home to crocodiles, making it impractical and unsafe for such a change. Instead, Shetty and his team opted to build sets nearby.
Golmaal 5 will feature familiar faces like Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, and Kunal Kemmu. Notably, Sharman Joshi, who appeared in the first film back in 2006, is set to return, and the film will introduce a female antagonist.
In another interesting note, the rights to the Golmaal franchise have changed hands over the years. Originally produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision, they later moved to Dhilin Raj Mehta before being transferred to T A Shah Group’s Tejpal Shah. These rights were eventually sold to Rohit Shetty for a significant amount for each film in the series.
With a mix of humor and nostalgia, Golmaal 5 is certainly shaping up to be an exciting addition to the beloved franchise.
