Amaal Mallik, the composer behind the song “Yeh Awarapan” from the upcoming film Awarapan 2, recently spoke out about claims that a “paid PR” campaign is targeting the film and its music. He expressed these concerns on social media just a day after the song’s release, suggesting that certain rival factions within the film industry are working to undermine the movie’s success.
In his post, Amaal thanked fans for their positive feedback on the song, emphasizing that every track needs time to connect with listeners. He wrote, “Thank you for such a brilliant response to a melody that’s the closest to my heart. Every song needs time to breathe and find its way to the audience’s heart.”
Allegations Against Rivals
Amaal went further to allege that opposing groups are intentionally trying to harm Awarapan 2 and its soundtrack. He warned these rivals, saying, “Please save your funds for your next films. You may waste all your money attacking my song and movie, but without saving some of it, you won’t be able to support your own projects.”
On Comparing Soundtracks
The composer also addressed comparisons between Awarapan 2 and the beloved soundtrack from the original Awarapan movie, released in 2007. Amaal clarified that the original songs were adaptations of independent tracks by various artists, such as Mustafa Zahid and Rafaqat Ali Khan, which were then reimagined by Pritam. He acknowledged the brilliance of the earlier work, stating, “We can’t do what Mustafa Zahid did, and we don’t wish to touch his legacy and spoil it.”

Amaal concluded by encouraging listeners to judge the new music on its own rather than comparing it to past classics. He said, “Before you judge mine or any musician’s work, take a moment to listen to the song with an open heart.” He emphasized that music is meant to be felt and accepted or rejected, reminding fans that their opinions are important.
