Shoojit Sircar’s Exciting New Film: A Blend of Mythology and Humor

Director Shoojit Sircar is well-known for his heartwarming films like Vicky Donor and Piku. His latest project promises to be something different – it’s set to be his first-ever mythological comedy.

Sources reveal that this film will mark Sircar’s eagerly anticipated return to humor. He is recognized for his ability to blend warmth and wit in storytelling, and now he is stepping into a fresh genre that combines mythology with comedy.

Locally, buzz around the project is building. Notably, a grand set is under construction by Mansi Dhruv Mehta, who won a National Award for her work on Sardar Udham. The set is inspired by an important chapter from the Mahabharata and aims to present the ancient tale through a modern and satirical lens.

The cast is equally impressive. Alongside well-known actors Manoj Bajpayee and Rajkummar Rao, the film has welcomed the talents of Saurabh Shukla and Viineet Kumar Singh. Both actors are celebrated for their skills in managing humor and drama, promising to bring a fresh twist to this imaginative retelling.

The film is being produced by Rising Sun Films and Kino Works, with support from Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar. Currently, it is in pre-production, with set construction actively ongoing, aiming to begin shooting in early 2026.

With its unique mix of humor and mythology, along with a talented cast, Sircar’s next film is already generating significant interest among audiences and industry insiders alike. If all progresses smoothly, this project could not only showcase Sircar’s return to comedic storytelling but also create a new genre that skillfully blends mythology, satire, and emotions for contemporary viewers.
