Indian Boxers Face Baggage Issues Ahead of Commonwealth Games
India’s boxing team had a rocky start to their journey in the Commonwealth Games, with nearly half of their luggage left behind in Belfast. The 22-member team arrived in Glasgow after a training camp, but the bags of several key athletes, including Sakshi Chaudhary (51kg) and world champion Jaismine Lamboria (57kg), didn’t make the trip.
Reports indicate that the aircraft used for the short flight between Belfast and Glasgow was smaller than usual, leading to the issue. The missing luggage holds essential training gear and the outfits the boxers are meant to wear at Thursday’s opening ceremony.
This isn’t the first time the boxers have faced such problems; a similar situation occurred when they traveled from Doha to Belfast earlier this month. With boxing matches kicking off on Friday, the team is anxious for their items to arrive in time for final preparations. It’s also worth noting that the women’s coach has not been assigned to the same hotel as the rest of the boxers.
The boxing event is set to begin this Friday, and the team is hopeful for a smooth start despite the unsettled circumstances.
