Actor Neha Sharma faced questioning from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday as part of an investigation into suspected money laundering related to an online betting application. The ED had summoned Sharma, who is also the daughter of Congress leader Ajit Sharma, to provide details about her connections to the platform.
According to officials, Sharma’s statement was taken under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Investigators are reportedly looking into her promotional involvement with the app. So far, Sharma has not publicly commented on the situation.
Neha Sharma is known for her roles in films like Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, Solo, and Tanhaji. She has also appeared in the web series Illegal and in short films such as Kriti and Vikalp.
Her questioning comes during a broader investigation into various celebrities associated with the betting platform. The ED has previously questioned several public figures, including Sonu Sood, Vijay Deverakonda, and Urvashi Rautela, among others.
Actor Prakash Raj, who was summoned in July, spoke on the matter, stating, “As a citizen, I came in without any issue. I promoted a betting app back in 2016 but I didn’t pursue it thereafter. I shared that I haven’t received any money from it, and that concluded the inquiry.”
Similarly, Vijay Deverakonda explained his situation after being questioned in August, saying, “I was summoned because my name appeared in a betting app case. However, I only promoted a legal gaming app called A23, which is different from betting apps. Gaming apps are allowed in many states and are properly registered.”
