Australian Teacher Admits Guilt in Case of 15-Year-Old Sexual Abuse

Brief: Australian Teacher Pleads Guilty to Sexual Abuse of Minor

An Australian high school teacher, Karly Rae, has admitted in a New South Wales court to sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy multiple times. According to reports from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), the 37-year-old teacher, who recently gave birth, pleaded guilty to charges that include engaging in sexual intercourse with the minor, possessing abusive material, and other serious offenses.

Initially pleading not guilty, Rae changed her statement after several months. Her lawyer requested the court to consider her case urgently due to her recent motherhood.

Court documents revealed that Rae communicated with the teenager through social media platforms, and the incidents occurred in various suburbs around Newcastle. The police presented text messages from Rae to the boy during the trial. In one message, Rae apologized for removing him from Snapchat, stating it was “too tempting.”

It was later discovered that the teenager’s cousin saw the messages and alerted their parents, who then contacted law enforcement. When arrested, Rae claimed she was unaware of the boy’s age, believing he was old enough.

Despite being granted bail due to her pregnancy earlier this year, Rae is still awaiting sentencing. A hearing is scheduled for March 25, where the judge will review information related to her case. Rae had completed child protection training just months prior to the incidents, according to department records.

Karly Rae remains out on bail as the legal process continues.
