India’s Rising Global Influence: RSS Chief Highlights PM Modi’s Impact
On Monday, Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), spoke in Pune about India’s increasing role on the world stage and how it is attracting the interest of global leaders towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This speech was part of an event celebrating the RSS’s centenary.
Bhagwat stressed that the journey of the RSS over the past hundred years has been more about shouldering responsibilities rather than just celebrating its achievements. He reflected on the challenges faced by the organization and noted the importance of self-reflection, saying, “Although the Sangh has completed 100 years, it’s time to think about why the task of uniting society has taken so long.”
He remarked that the world is now paying more attention to Indian leadership because the country’s strength is becoming more apparent. He shared an interesting anecdote about being told the Sangh arrived “30 years late,” to which he replied that the organization has always been active, albeit not always acknowledged. He emphasized that true influence comes not from force, but through “dialogue and collective efforts.”
Bhagwat conveyed his belief that India’s ascent contributes to global peace and stability, stating, “History shows that when India rises, global problems decrease and peace prevails.” He highlighted that this is what the world needs now and that RSS members have been dedicated to this cause from the very beginning.
He also paid tribute to Dr. K B Hedgewar, the founder of the RSS, acknowledging the hardships faced by the organization’s early volunteers who worked tirelessly without knowing if their efforts would yield success. “They laid the groundwork for change, and we owe them our gratitude,” he remarked.
In his closing thoughts, Bhagwat emphasized the idea of unity in diversity, noting that all philosophies in India stem from a common origin. He urged everyone to move forward together, highlighting that our interconnectedness requires us to harmonize and work in unison for a better future.
