India Ends Argentina Tour with Strong Finish, Series Draws 2-2

Buenos Aires, April 18, 2026: The Indian Women’s Hockey Team wrapped up their tour of Argentina with impressive resilience, ending the four-match series in a 2-2 draw. After a tough start, the team rallied back to secure victories in their last two matches, finishing the tour on a high note.

The series launched on April 13 with a tightly contested first match. Goals from Navneet Kaur in the 22nd minute and Annu in the 29th minute showcased India’s fighting spirit. However, Argentina claimed victory with a final score of 4-2, featuring goals from Maria Emilia Larsen, Victoria Granato, and Julieta Jankunas.

In the second game on April 14, India took an early lead thanks to Ishika’s goal in the 22nd minute. Despite their efforts, Argentina earned a close 2-1 victory, powered by two goals from Agustina Gorzelany.

The Indian team found their stride in the third match on April 16, winning 2-1. Both goals came from penalty corners, with Navneet Kaur and Neha netting in the 26th and 37th minutes, respectively. Although Argentina’s Gorzelany scored late, India’s strong performance secured the necessary win to set up an exciting finale.

The series concluded on April 17 with a hard-fought match that ended in a 0-0 draw after regular time. Both teams had opportunities, but India’s defense remained strong throughout. In the shootout, India held their composure, winning 3-2 and ensuring the series ended on even ground.

The team will return home to focus on their training camp, building on the valuable experience gained during the tour against a competitive opponent.

Reflecting on the tour, stand-in captain Navneet Kaur expressed pride in the team’s resilience. “I’m incredibly proud of how we responded after the first two matches. It’s tough to be down against a great team like Argentina, but we showed the character needed to come back. These wins highlight our progress and ability to handle pressure,” she said.
