Farmers Trained on Wheat Production in Alkaline Soil
Kanpur: A special workshop to enhance wheat production techniques in alkaline soils took place on Saturday at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dilip Nagar, part of Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology. This event was held under the National Innovations in Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) initiative.
Dr. Khalil Khan, a scientist, shared valuable insights with farmers about modern farming methods and emphasized the importance of minimizing chemical fertilizer use by turning towards organic farming practices. Dr. Ram Palat, in charge of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Auraiya, discussed the advantages of using innovative sowing techniques for wheat.
Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, the center’s head, encouraged all farmers present to practice line sowing in their fields. The program saw participation from farmers in villages like Aurangabad and Sahatawanpurwa. Each farmer received demonstration seeds of two advanced wheat varieties, KRL 210 and KRL 283, which are well-suited for alkaline soil.
Dr. Arun Kumar Singh conducted the session, explaining that using these advanced varieties can lead to higher yields. Moreover, these wheat types are of excellent quality and contribute positively to health, increasing their market demand.
