Abhishek Sharma and Smriti Mandhana Recognized as ICC Players of the Month

October 16, 2025 – Abhishek Sharma and Smriti Mandhana have been honored as the ICC Men’s and Women’s Players of the Month for September 2025. Both players showcased their exceptional skills during key tournaments, securing their awards through global fan voting alongside a panel of former cricket players and media experts.

Outstanding Performances by Abhishek Sharma

During the Asia Cup T20I, Abhishek Sharma delivered an impressive performance, scoring a total of 314 runs in seven matches. With an average of 44.85 and a remarkable strike rate of 200, he was named Player of the Tournament. His consistent playing helped him achieve 931 points in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings, marking a personal best.

Commenting on his achievement, Sharma expressed his gratitude, stating, “It feels great to win this ICC award, especially for important matches that I could help win. I’m proud to be part of a team that excels even in tough situations.”

He also thanked the team management and his teammates for their support, emphasizing the positive culture within the team.

Smriti Mandhana’s Stellar Series Against Australia

On the women’s side, Smriti Mandhana shone brightly during the home ODI series against Australia, scoring 58, 117, and 125 in consecutive matches. Overall, she accumulated 308 runs in four ODIs, boasting a remarkable average of 77 and a strike rate of 135.68. Notably, she set a new Indian record by reaching her century in just 50 balls in the third ODI, outperforming competitors like Tazmin Brits and Sidra Amin.

“I am truly honored to receive the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for September 2025,” Mandhana shared. “This recognition motivates me to continue growing as a player. It also reflects our collective effort and trust as a team.”

She added, “My goal has always been to give my best for the team and secure victories. I’m excited about the opportunities ahead that can lead to memorable wins for India.”

Mandhana recently regained her form during the Women’s World Cup with an impressive 80-run knock against Australia in Vizag.
