Brief: Trump Orders Attack on Vessel Linked to Drug Traffickers

Former President Donald Trump shared on Truth Social that he directed a military strike against a ship suspected of being connected to a terrorist group involved in drug trafficking. This operation occurred within the U.S. Southern Command’s region.

According to Trump, the strike resulted in the deaths of three individuals linked to narcotrafficking. He also posted a video showing the moment the vessel was hit and caught fire. “On my orders, the Secretary of War authorized a lethal strike on a vessel associated with a designated terrorist organization conducting drug trafficking,” Trump wrote.

Insight: Ongoing Military Actions Against Narcotraffickers

The attack took place in international waters, and Trump confirmed that no U.S. forces were injured during the operation. He emphasized, “The strike targeted three narcoterrorists aboard the vessel. This should be a warning: STOP selling fentanyl, narcotics, and illegal drugs in America!”

The announcement came shortly after the U.S. military’s second strike on Venezuelan drug cartels, highlighting a continuing effort to combat drug trafficking. Earlier in the month, a different strike targeted a vessel from the Tren de Aragua group, reportedly killing several suspected members involved in the drug trade.

The Trump administration previously labeled various drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, indicating an escalated approach to battling drug-related violence and trafficking.
