West Nile Virus Detected in Clark County, Indiana
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Clark County Health Department has confirmed a case of West Nile Virus after a mosquito trapped in the area tested positive for the illness.
In response to this finding, the department announced that their teams will conduct spraying to significantly reduce the adult mosquito population within a half-mile radius of where the infected mosquito was discovered.
The spraying will utilize an "Ultra Low Volume" chemical, which the health officials assure is safe for both humans and small pets.
Residents of the affected neighborhoods will see signs indicating the spraying zones. The operation will take place during the evening when bees and other pollinators are less active. If you have bees or hives, it’s important to register their locations to ensure they are not affected during the spraying.
In other local news, a man was arrested following an explosion at a hotel in Lyndon, facing charges related to using a weapon of mass destruction. Additionally, a hammer attack has left a child in critical condition, with the mother facing charges. Health inspectors are also returning to two Kroger locations in Louisville after reports of mouse sightings, while Henry County has issued a boil water advisory due to E. coli contamination.
