Woman Fakes Her Death with Lover’s Help Inspired by a Film

In a shocking turn of events from the Patan district in Gujarat, a married woman and her lover have been arrested for attempting to fake her death. Authorities say the couple was inspired by the popular film “Drishyam.”

The suspects, both 21 years old and identified as Geeta Ahir and Bharat Ahir, were taken into custody at Palanpur railway station on Wednesday. They had allegedly killed a man and dressed his body in Geeta’s clothing before setting it on fire to create the illusion that she had died.

The charred remains of the victim, identified as 56-year-old Harjibhai Solanki, were discovered on Tuesday night in Jakhotra village. According to police, Geeta plotted this scheme to escape her life and start anew with Bharat.

Patan Superintendent of Police VK Navi shared insights into the case during a press briefing, stating, "Geeta, who resides with her husband, devised this plan and persuaded her lover to help her acquire a dead body."

How the Plan Unfolded

The evening before the body was found, Geeta left her home while her family was asleep. When her husband and relatives noticed her absence, they began searching for her. The search led them to a pond on the village outskirts where they found a half-burnt body. Initially, they believed the body belonged to Geeta because of her traditional skirts and jewelry found on it.

After bringing the body home, family members quickly realized it was a man. They reported the situation to the police, leading to a murder investigation.

During the inquiry, police connected the dots and discovered the couple’s plan to flee together. They apprehended Geeta and Bharat while they were on their way to Rajasthan.

Both suspects confessed, revealing that they were inspired by the plot of “Drishyam.” Geeta explained that they targeted Solanki after he had offered her a motorcycle ride. Bharat lured him to a secluded area and strangled him. After his death, Geeta, who had sneaked out with a bottle of petrol, met Bharat at the crime scene.

The duo dressed Solanki in Geeta’s clothes and set his body on fire before fleeing towards the railway station with plans of boarding a train to Jodhpur. However, police acted swiftly and arrested them before they could carry out their escape.

This case not only highlights a shocking crime but also reflects the lengths some will go to for love, inspired by stories they see on screen.
