LinkedIn Announces Job Cuts in the Bay Area

MOUNTAIN VIEW — LinkedIn has announced it will cut hundreds of jobs in the Bay Area, bringing the total number of tech layoffs in the region to over 5,000 this year.

The professional networking platform plans to eliminate 585 positions, as indicated in a WARN notice sent to the state Employment Development Department. These cuts are slated to begin on July 13.

The job reductions will affect various locations, with 418 positions in Mountain View, 59 in Sunnyvale, and 108 in San Francisco.

“The decision to reduce jobs is expected to be permanent,” said Bo Lebow, an HR governance officer at LinkedIn, in the WARN notice.

As of now, this year has seen tech companies disclose a staggering 5,088 job cuts in the Bay Area, according to a review of WARN notices.
