Rubio Discusses Middle East Tensions and Cuba’s Future
In an exclusive interview, Secretary of State Marco Rubio addressed the rising tensions in the Middle East, focusing on the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. He emphasized the urgent need to dismantle Hezbollah, which he sees as a significant threat to regional stability.
Rubio also drew attention to the dire situation in Cuba, labeling it a failed state. He pointed out the national security risks it poses to the United States and called for major economic reforms to tackle the country’s ongoing energy crisis. Additionally, he reinforced the Trump administration’s strong position against Iran’s activities in the Strait of Hormuz.
In related news, a recent report on Lebanon’s MTV television network revealed disturbing practices linked to Hezbollah. The report claims that the militant group exploits children from its scout movements for combat missions, leading to their tragic deaths. This information came to light during ongoing U.S.-brokered peace discussions between Israel and Lebanon.
The report suggests that Hezbollah not only honors these young fighters with public funerals but also glorifies their sacrifices to encourage other children to follow suit. It stated that Hezbollah believes every drop of child blood brings them closer to victory.
Hezbollah’s Use of Child Scouts
The MTV report delved deeper into Hezbollah’s activities, claiming that the group uses its scout movements to instill values of obedience and martyrdom among children. These “child soldiers” have been a part of Hezbollah since the 1980s, serving not just as fighters but also as scouts loyal to the group’s ideology.
Experts have criticized Hezbollah’s tactics, stressing the group’s history of radicalizing youth through programs like the Mahdi Scouts. Mideast expert Walid Phares noted that many of these children are trained for roles including espionage and munitions transport.
Calls for action against Hezbollah’s exploitation of children are growing. Sarit Zehavi from the Israel Alma Research and Education Center insisted that international pressure, particularly from the United States, is necessary to end these practices. She advocates for the development of educational programs independent of Hezbollah’s influence.
An Israeli diplomat also condemned Hezbollah’s actions, stating that the group sacrifices Lebanese children to further Iran’s ambitions, framing it as a severe form of child abuse. Meanwhile, Lebanon’s Ambassador to the U.S. chose not to comment on the report.
