Gujarat Titans Staying Confident Without Jos Buttler in Playoffs, Says Assistant Coach Matthew Wade

Gujarat Titans Prepare for Knockout Stages Without Jos Buttler

Gujarat Titans assistant coach Matthew Wade is aware that the team will miss star player Jos Buttler during the crucial playoff matches of IPL 2025. Buttler’s absence may add pressure to the middle order, but Wade believes it also provides a valuable opportunity for other players to shine.

To fill the gap left by Buttler, the Titans have signed Sri Lankan opener Kusal Mendis. This season, the top order, featuring Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, and Buttler, has been instrumental, with each player scoring over 500 runs. While losing Buttler is significant, Wade encourages other young batsmen to step in and make their mark.

"There’s no worry for us," Wade stated, referring to the team’s form. "We know these players are in great shape, and they will rise to the occasion. We’re counting on them to continue scoring runs."

Wade is optimistic that when the younger players get their chance, they will deliver just as they have in previous matches this season. He highlighted the potential in the middle order, mentioning players like Sherfane Rutherford, Shahrukh Khan, and Rahul Tewatia, who have shown promise when given opportunities. However, they have had limited playing time recently.

"We want to ensure they’re well-prepared for the upcoming games," Wade said.

As the Titans sit at the top of the IPL points table, their next match is against the Lucknow Super Giants, a team already out of playoff contention. Wade cautioned against underestimating LSG, noting that teams in such positions often play more freely, making them unpredictable opponents.

"Teams whose seasons are over can become more dangerous. They can play without pressure and aim to end their season on a high note," he warned.

In summary, while the Titans face challenges without Buttler, they have confidence in their squad and are gearing up for the important matches ahead.
