Regena Cassandrra Challenges Bollywood’s Language Barriers
Regena Cassandrra has made a remarkable mark in 2025. Following her role in Ajith’s film Vidaamuyarchi, she quickly appeared in two more movies, Jaat and Kesari Chapter 2. In a recent conversation, the actress discussed her career and shared thoughts about a previous interview where she mentioned the challenges of being typecast because of her background.
When reflecting on whether her recent successes have changed Bollywood’s perception of her, Regena expressed skepticism. "I feel like it’s still the same. It’s easier for them to do what they want," she shared. She hopes to one day have the influence to shift this perspective.
Regena explained that her comments come from a place of love and concern for fellow artists. With 20 years in acting, including Hindi films since 2018, she is passionate about seeing change in the industry. "I want to see South Indian women in North Indian roles. How long will language be an excuse?" she questioned.
Confident in her Hindi skills, Regena stated, "I can read and write Hindi better than some Hindi speakers! I prefer my scripts in Devanagari because it helps me connect with the material better." She even works with a Hindi tutor to improve her diction, hoping to negate any claims of a language barrier blocking her opportunities.
Regena’s drive is clear: she wants to break free from the narrow casting for South Indian actors and open doors for more diverse representation. She believes that if North Indian actors can master South Indian roles, the reverse should be just as feasible.
Her dedication and aspirations reflect a broader desire for change within the film industry, marking Regena Cassandrra as a voice to watch.
