The Diplomat: John Abraham’s Film Faces Ban in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar Due to Content Issues

Political Thriller ‘The Diplomat’ Banned in Multiple Middle Eastern Countries

The political thriller, The Diplomat, featuring actor John Abraham in the lead role, has encountered a significant hurdle as it is reportedly banned in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar. Although the specific reasons for the ban remain unclear, sources suggest that the film’s politically charged content may have influenced this decision.

This is not the first time an Indian film has faced restrictions in Gulf countries. Similar bans have occurred with other films, including Tiger 3, starring Salman Khan, which was restricted in Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar due to issues related to the portrayal of Muslim characters. Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force also experienced limitations across several Middle Eastern nations.

As of now, there has been no official statement from either the authorities in these countries or the filmmakers regarding the ban. This situation underscores the ongoing challenges faced by filmmakers who aim for a global release while grappling with regional content sensitivities. Despite the setback, The Diplomat continues to draw attention for its compelling storyline and strong performances.

Directed by Shivam Nair and penned by Ritesh Shah, The Diplomat is based on true events, chronicling the efforts of Indian diplomat J.P. Singh in rescuing Uzma Ahmed, an Indian woman caught in a forced marriage situation in Pakistan. The film was released on March 14, 2025, and has become a topic of discussion regarding its exploration of diplomatic tensions and India-Pakistan relations.

With a gripping plot and high-stakes drama, The Diplomat showcases John Abraham alongside notable actors like Sadia Khateeb and Sharib Hashmi. Produced by T-Series, JA Entertainment, Wakaoo Films, and Fortune Pictures, this film further solidifies John Abraham’s status as a leading actor in political dramas.
