The Henley Passport Index has released its latest rankings, showcasing the most powerful passports in the world based on visa-free travel capabilities. Leading the list is Singapore, whose passport permits travel to an impressive 193 countries without the need for a visa.
In comparison, the United States passport ranks ninth, allowing access to 183 countries. It shares this position with four other nations. This places the US passport behind those from 29 other countries in terms of global mobility.
If you’re a US passport holder considering travel to countries like China, India, or Venezuela for your upcoming spring break, be prepared to apply for a visa ahead of time. Unfortunately, some of the world’s top destinations require this extra step, which can complicate your travel plans.
The Henley Passport Index ranks passports based on the number of destinations their holders can visit without needing a visa, using data from the International Air Transport Authority. Singapore retains its top position, while Japan, which was once first, has slipped to second place alongside South Korea, with both allowing access to 190 countries.
