BJP Calls Out Congress Over Paper Leak Controversy
NEW DELHI: The BJP stepped up its criticism of Congress and its allies on Thursday regarding paper leaks, as its MPs rallied in the Parliament complex. They chanted slogans and waved placards, specifically targeting Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders for refusing to discuss this pressing issue, despite the government’s willingness to engage.
BJP president Nitin Nabin accused Rahul Gandhi of avoiding debate, suggesting that Congress fears its past missteps would come to light during a parliamentary discussion. He claimed the opposition has consistently misled young people throughout its tenure.
“I challenge them to debate,” Nabin said, adding that Rahul and his team would likely decline. He emphasized that the NDA government is committed to shaping a better future for the youth of India, citing the country’s growing reputation for start-ups and unicorns. He criticized Congress for viewing the youth merely as troublemakers and claimed that young people support PM Modi.
Former minister Anurag Thakur urged the opposition to stop using students’ futures for political gain. Instead of dodging the issue, he said, they should join the discussion in Parliament. He praised Modi’s announcement of establishing fast-track courts to ensure quick and strict penalties for those involved in paper leaks. Another BJP MP, Sudhanshu Trivedi, reiterated the party’s commitment to addressing the situation sensitively.
