Occupied Jerusalem: Israel Intercepts Missile from Yemen
Israel’s military reported that it successfully intercepted a missile launched from Yemen that crossed into Israeli airspace early Friday morning. The military shared this update via a statement on Telegram.
According to the report, pieces of debris from the interception fell in the Modi’in area of central Israel, and authorities are currently investigating the details of the incident.
Magen David Adom, Israel’s emergency service, stated that several individuals required treatment due to injuries or panic attacks after air raid sirens went off in central and southern parts of the country, prompting many to rush to shelters.
This incident follows another missile interception from Yemen earlier in the week.
In related news, Israeli airstrikes recently killed the head of police in Gaza, along with at least 67 other individuals, as reported by local authorities.
The Iran-backed Houthi rebels, who control significant portions of Yemen, have been launching missiles and drones at Israel, as well as against ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. They claim these actions are in support of the Palestinians amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
The Houthis have intensified their attacks since a ceasefire was reached in November between Israel and Hezbollah, another Iran-backed group based in Lebanon. In response, Israel has also conducted airstrikes in Yemen, including recent attacks on Sanaa’s international airport at the end of December.
