Sony LIV has just released the trailer for their exciting new show, “The Waking of a Nation.” This historical drama, directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Ram Madhvani, is set to debut on March 7. The series is based on true events that hold significant importance in India’s struggle for independence, particularly focusing on the tragic Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.

In “The Waking of a Nation,” viewers will follow the story of Kantilal Sahni, portrayed by Taaruk Raina. The narrative uncovers a deep conspiracy linked to colonialism and white supremacy, offering a fresh perspective on the events surrounding this dark period in history. It also highlights the findings from the Hunter Commission’s inquiry.

Ram Madhvani, who is not only the creator but also a co-producer of the show, shared his enthusiasm for “The Waking of a Nation.” He described it as one of his most important projects. “It’s more than just a series—it’s a way for me to shed light on India’s rich history and the challenges we’ve faced. This story is really personal for me, and I’m proud of the unique style of storytelling we’ve created. I’m excited to work with such a talented cast and my team at Ram Madhvani Films,” he said.

Taaruk Raina, who plays the lead role of Kantilal Sahni, expressed how meaningful this experience has been for him. “Being part of this show has truly impacted my career. It’s a tribute to the many individuals who fought for India’s freedom, and portraying Kantilal Sahni, a man battling between his duty and the truth, has been both a challenge and a privilege. I hope this series highlights the bravery of those who stood for justice,” he remarked.

Produced by Ram and Amita Madhvani, the series features a talented cast, including Nikita Dutta, Sahil Mehta, and Bhawsheel Singh Sahni. The writing team behind the show includes Shantanu Srivastava, Shatrujeet Nath, and Ram Madhvani.

As we look forward to the premiere of “The Waking of a Nation,” viewers can expect a compelling portrayal of history that brings to light the resilience and sacrifices that shaped the nation. Don’t miss the chance to catch this important story on Sony LIV starting March 7!
