Music composer Pritam Chakraborty has unfortunately become a victim of a significant theft, with approximately ₹40 lakh reportedly stolen from his office in Mumbai. The incident came to light recently, prompting Pritam to file a police complaint. An FIR has been registered and the police are now investigating the situation.
According to reports, the complaint was lodged by Pritam’s manager at the Malad police station after a staff member allegedly stole the large sum of money. The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Ashish Sayal, is currently on the run. Police teams are actively searching for him.
The theft is said to have occurred around 2 PM on February 4 at Pritam’s music studio, Unimus Record Pvt. Ltd., located in Goregaon. It was reported that a representative from a production house delivered a bag containing ₹40 lakh in cash to Pritam’s manager, Vineet Chedda. At the time, staff members Ashish Sayal, Ahmed Khan, and Kamal Disha were present in the office.
An officer explained that the manager had placed the cash in a trolley bag in the office and then went to Pritam’s home, which is in the same building, to get some documents signed. When Chedda returned, he discovered that the trolley bag had gone missing. Other staff members claimed that Sayal had taken the bag, saying he was moving it to Pritam’s residence.
After attempting to reach Ashish Sayal without success, Chedda’s concerns escalated when Sayal turned off his phone. Recognizing that something was wrong, Chedda informed Pritam, who instructed him to go to the police right away.
According to the officer, Chedda then approached the police to file the complaint. A case of theft has been registered, and authorities are working to trace the suspect, reaching out to his relatives and examining his mobile phone’s call data for leads.
Investigations are ongoing, and the stolen money has not yet been recovered. A spokesperson for Pritam confirmed that the police are managing the situation but did not provide additional comments. Pritam, who is known for his popular soundtracks for films like Barfi!, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, and Brahmāstra, has not yet made a public statement regarding the theft.
