Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca recently addressed speculation surrounding Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho. The young forward has been the subject of transfer rumors as the January window approaches its end, with United looking to restructure their squad while staying within financial regulations.
Despite Chelsea’s depth in winger positions, with players like Mykhailo Mudryk currently unavailable and uncertainty surrounding Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix, Garnacho’s name has surfaced as a potential target. However, Maresca has dismissed these rumors, stating he is satisfied with the players at his disposal. He noted the contributions of Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke on the right, and Jadon Sancho on the left, while also mentioning young talent Tyrique George as a viable option in his squad.
The Blues’ manager also acknowledged the need for a new midfielder, especially with the recent injury to Romeo Lavia.
In addition to transfer discussions, Maresca came to the defense of goalkeeper Robert Sanchez after a notable error during a recent match against Wolves. Despite a mistake that allowed Wolves to equalize, Chelsea managed to secure a 2-1 victory. Maresca remarked on the nature of football, reminding everyone that errors are part of the game, referencing mistakes made by other players throughout the season.
Looking ahead, Chelsea is set to face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on January 25.
