Salman Khan’s highly anticipated film, Maatrubhumi, was expected to hit theaters by now. Initially titled Battle Of Galwan, the movie is inspired by the 2020 conflict between India and China. However, recent improvements in relations between the two nations have led the Ministry of Defence to express concerns about the film’s content, particularly its references to China, resulting in delays.
A source from the film industry mentioned that while the team is making efforts to release Maatrubhumi this year, it’s possible the release might be pushed to 2027. The source indicated that there are still unresolved issues, and even if they are addressed soon, finding a prime release date could be challenging, as many popular dates have already been claimed by other films.
Interestingly, Salman Khan is known for his fair approach regarding competition at the box office. He typically avoids clashing with other films and believes in communicating with fellow filmmakers if a clash is unavoidable. An insider suggested that the Dussehra festival, which falls on October 20 this year, could provide a great opportunity for the film’s release. The day before Dussehra usually sees significant box office boosts, allowing Maatrubhumi to benefit from an extended holiday weekend.
Currently, Rajkummar Rao’s Raftaar is set to release on October 16, alongside Gunmaaster G9, featuring Emraan Hashmi and Genelia Deshmukh. However, there has not yet been an official confirmation about the latter’s release date.
If the challenges surrounding Maatrubhumi remain unresolved, it will likely be pushed to next year. This scenario would mean Salman Khan could potentially have two releases in 2027, alongside his ongoing project with Vamshi Paidipally, which stars Nayanthara and is also set for release next year.
