A few days after the release of the teaser for Ajay Devgn’s action drama Chauhaan, the filmmakers have quietly updated the YouTube version in response to some negative feedback online. The teaser now has two significant changes: the opening narration, originally voiced by actor Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, has been altered to feature a different voice, and the military rank mentioned has shifted from “major” to “colonel.”
If you compare the new YouTube version to the original teaser that’s still available on Instagram and other social media, you’ll notice these updates. While the visuals are still the same, the voiceover has changed, and a line in the opening has been adjusted.
The original teaser stirred up some controversy, particularly for its references to pellet guns and its portrayal of people in Kashmir confronting armed forces. Critics, including political activists and voices from Kashmir, expressed that some elements of the teaser were insensitive and sparked division.
Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub himself became part of the discussion, facing online backlash for his role in the teaser’s narration. Although he has not publicly responded to the criticisms, his voice has been removed from the updated YouTube version.
Interestingly, the teaser shared on platforms like Instagram continues to include Ayyub’s original narration, suggesting that these updates have been made solely for the YouTube release and not for other platforms.
As of now, neither Ajay Devgn nor the film’s producers—Jio Studios, Colour Yellow Productions, along with producer Aanand L Rai, writer Himanshu Sharma, and director Neeraj Yadav—have commented on why these changes were made. It’s unclear whether the edits were a direct response to the backlash or merely routine updates.
There has been no official explanation regarding the changes in narration or the adjustment to the military rank, leaving the reasons behind these edits somewhat of a mystery.
