Aamir Khan Returns with New Project ‘Lalkaara’
Aamir Khan recently marked the 25th anniversary of his beloved film, Lagaan, and is now set to team up again with director Ashutosh Gowariker for a new project titled Lalkaara. According to sources, Lalkaara isn’t a biopic but centers around the famous 1952 cricket series between India and Pakistan. The script, penned by Piyush Gupta, known for Dangal, and Neeraj Singh, who wrote Nil Battey Sannata, promises to be an engaging sports drama filled with themes of rivalry, friendship, and nationalism.
Lalkaara will be produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment, with Rajkumar Hirani stepping in as a producer as well. Aamir has a long history with both creatives; after Lagaan, he starred in Akhtar’s cult classic Dil Chahta Hai and delivered major hits with Hirani in 3 Idiots and PK.
A few years back, it was reported that Fox Star Studios was initially set to produce the film, with Hirani being offered to direct. Interestingly, Shah Rukh Khan was once considered for the lead role.
Additionally, Aamir is also working on a sequel to 3 Idiots, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, but Lalkaara will take precedence as its script is already complete.
Stay tuned for more updates on Aamir Khan’s exciting new venture!
