Matt Damon Reflects on Career and Future Collaborations at The Odyssey Press Conference

In a recent press event held at a luxury hotel in South Mumbai, Matt Damon joined director Christopher Nolan, actor Tom Holland, and producer Emma Thomas to discuss their much-anticipated film, The Odyssey. A highlight of the gathering was Matt’s revelation about his regret over not working with legendary Indian filmmaker Shekhar Kapur.

When asked about collaborating with Indian directors, Matt candidly shared, “I’ve always wanted to work with Shekhar Kapur. I remember being disappointed when I couldn’t be part of The Four Feathers. I think it was because I was busy with a Bourne movie at the time. It’s like a 20-year debt that I’ve been carrying around!”

During the conversation, he expressed how excited he was to take on his role in The Odyssey. “Having 35 years of experience has definitely helped. This character is complex, and to bring him to life on such a grand scale with Chris was a dream come true. I felt grateful when he called me about this opportunity,” he said.

Matt spoke about the collaborative spirit of the project, noting, “It took so much effort from a huge team. Everyone involved was fully dedicated, traveling to several countries like Greece, Iceland, Morocco, and Italy to capture the essence of the story. We had top-notch crew members joining us at each location, all working toward the same goal.”

Adding a lighthearted moment, he remarked, “I told Emma early on, ‘What were you thinking?’ I’m really glad I’m not the producer because the organization needed for this film was extraordinary. Emma humorously replied that it felt like making six or seven movies at once, but they had already tackled challenging projects like Dunkirk and Batman, which prepared them well for this one.”

As the interview wrapped up, Matt reflected on the exhaustive preparations he undertook for this role, stating, “I drew from all my experiences and tools to be ready for this moment, and I feel so lucky to have done it alongside such an amazing team.”

The Odyssey is set to hit theaters on July 17, promising to be a cinematic experience not to be missed.
