Oak Ridge National Laboratory Researchers Shine at DOE Awards Ceremony
Researchers from the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) made a remarkable impression at the recent Annual Merit Review held in Arlington, Virginia. Out of nine awards given by the DOE’s Transportation Technologies Office, ORNL took home five.
The accolades included two Distinguished Achievement Awards and three Team Awards. These honors celebrate advancements in transportation efficiency, vehicle technology, and advanced manufacturing, highlighting ORNL’s crucial work in reducing reliance on important minerals and materials.
Distinguished Achievement Awards
Vivek Sujan
Vivek Sujan, a respected member of the Applied Research for Mobility Systems Group, received a Distinguished Achievement Award for his outstanding research. He created OR-AGENT, a cutting-edge modeling tool aimed at improving commercial vehicle and freight operations. This innovative framework considers seasonal freight data, traffic patterns, weather conditions, and energy routes to develop effective regional strategies for infrastructure deployment.
Stacy Davis
Stacy Davis, the leader of the Transportation Analytics and Decision Sciences Group, was also honored with a Distinguished Achievement Award. She was recognized for her excellent work on the Fuel Economy Guide and its accompanying website. Davis has been instrumental in providing vital transportation energy information, helping consumers, researchers, and policymakers make smarter choices about vehicle efficiency and operating costs.
These awards underscore the essential role that ORNL is playing in advancing transportation technologies and promoting sustainable practices.
