Overseas Minister Highlights Growing Global Respect for Indian Talent
During the Annual Regional Passport Officers’ Conference in Delhi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized the increasing global recognition of Indian skills. He shared insights from his recent trip with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the G7 Summit, where they noticed that many countries in Europe are appreciating India’s talented workforce.
Jaishankar introduced the Passport Seva Programme Version 2.0, highlighting it as a game-changing effort that is reshaping how Indians can travel and connect globally. He pointed out that a passport is not just a travel document, but an essential tool for economic opportunities, international trade, and a sense of national identity.
Additionally, he spoke about India’s rising influence as a “Vishwa Bandhu” or global friend, which has improved how the Indian passport is viewed worldwide. He stressed the importance of making the process of obtaining a passport straightforward for all citizens, ensuring it is seen as a right rather than a burden.
