Volta Launches AI Infrastructure Platform with Major Investment
Volta, a company based in London, has officially launched its innovative AI infrastructure platform. This initiative is backed by a substantial $10 billion (£7.4 billion) partnership with an AI lab as well as a $5 billion (£3.7 billion) infrastructure program dedicated to artificial intelligence.
The main aim of Volta is to build, finance, and operate AI factories. By combining elements such as land, data centers, and software into one platform, Volta hopes to solve one of the biggest challenges in AI: making capital affordable and accessible.
The company plans to provide reliable and scalable AI infrastructure for various entities, including AI labs and companies. Volta emphasizes making it easier for these organizations to access the resources they need.
At the heart of Volta’s launch is a significant partnership to establish an AI factory in Europe, in collaboration with Bitdeer. This project, located in Norway, will feature a 133 MW deployment that relies on NVIDIA Vera Rubin systems.
In line with its growth strategy, Volta has also partnered with Azora to create an infrastructure program that will offer £3.7 billion in financing for the next generation of AI factories.
Additionally, Volta has successfully completed its Seed and Series A funding rounds, bringing its total valuation to $2.4 billion (£1.8 billion).
Sofia Gumuzio, the chief corporate development officer at Volta, remarked, “AI is changing the way we view computing, turning it from just a product into essential infrastructure. To meet the growing demand, we need a platform that can efficiently mobilize infrastructure capital, secure power, and operate at a large scale. That’s precisely what Volta aims to achieve.”
