Rajkummar Rao to Star and Produce New Dark Comedy for Netflix
Actor Rajkummar Rao is gearing up for an exciting new project as he teams up with director Aditya Nimbalkar for a dark comedy film that will be released exclusively on Netflix. This untitled film, which revolves around a murder, marks Rao’s debut in a producing role. According to sources, filming is set to begin in January 2025, with the movie expected to premiere on the streaming service by the end of that year.
Following a successful 2024, where he earned praise for his roles in "Srikanth" and "Stree 2," Rajkummar Rao has decided to take the leap into production. A source revealed that he was so captivated by the film’s script that he chose to produce it himself, forming a direct-to-digital partnership with Netflix.
“This dark comedy, set against a murder backdrop, has a thrilling screenplay filled with unexpected twists. Rajkummar loved the concept and wanted to be directly involved in its production,” said the source familiar with the project.
Aditya Nimbalkar, who previously directed the film "Sector 36," is set to helm this exciting new Netflix original. His vision for the film aims to merge suspense with dark humor, promising a captivating take on the murder-mystery genre.
