The legal disagreement surrounding Aditya Dhar’s film “Dhurandhar The Revenge” has, for now, reached an end after the Bombay High Court dismissed a defamation case. This resolution came after filmmaker Santosh Kumar apologized for his earlier public statements.
The conflict began in March 2026 when Kumar accused Dhar of taking the storyline of “Dhurandhar The Revenge” from his own script, “D-Saheb.” Kumar claimed that he had registered his script with the Screenwriters Association in 2023. His allegations were made during a press conference, prompting Dhar to seek legal action, arguing that these remarks damaged his reputation.
According to reports, the case was heard by Justice Arif Doctor, who closed the matter after Kumar offered an unconditional apology in court. The official order noted that Kumar’s counsel submitted an apology for the statements made during the March press event. Dhar’s lawyer informed the court that his client no longer wished to pursue the defamation suit or claim damages, leading to the conclusion of the case.
While this decision ends the defamation proceedings, the court clarified that Kumar can still pursue separate legal action concerning his claims over the script. This ruling made it clear that any future disputes over authorship would not be affected by the current order.
During earlier sessions, the court encouraged both parties to resolve the matter amicably. Although Kumar was initially hesitant to apologize, he ultimately agreed, leading to the resolution of the dispute.
For now, the defamation case is closed, but questions about the ownership of the story may lead to new legal battles in the future.
