Music legend AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu recently declared their separation after nearly 29 years of marriage, surprising fans globally. The couple mentioned “significant emotional strain” as the reason for their split. However, their divorce lawyer, Vandana Shah, has hinted that there may still be a chance for the couple to reconcile.
In a recent statement, Shah addressed questions on the custody of their three children—Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen. She clarified that arrangements are still pending, but noted that since some of the children are adults, they can choose where to live.
When asked about potential alimony, Shah did not provide specifics, emphasizing that Saira should not be seen as a “money-minded woman,” amid circulating rumors about financial aspects of the divorce.
What stands out is Shah’s optimism regarding a possible reconciliation. She stated, “I have not ruled out the possibility of reconciliation. I always focus on love and romance. While their joint statement mentioned pain and separation, it doesn’t mean they can’t find a way back to each other.”
AR Rahman and Saira Banu wed in 1995 and have shared a deep bond for almost three decades. Their recent announcement of separation has left many shocked, reflecting the emotional weight of their decision to part ways.
