Filmmaker Yogesh Deshpande, known for his work in advertising and regional cinema, is preparing to make his debut in mainstream Hindi films with an upcoming feature project. The film is currently in pre-production and is set to begin shooting in April. The casting process is underway, with three actresses already shortlisted for roles, and a detailed location search has been completed.
Since launching his career in 2005, Deshpande has directed more than 100 advertisement films. He is also the founder of RedefineZ Concepts, which has since evolved into a full production house, RedefineZ Productions, based in Pune.
Reflecting on his journey into mainstream cinema, Deshpande shared, “My transition from advertising to filmmaking has been driven by the belief that stories should be emotionally authentic and culturally significant. Each project has allowed me to see how personal stories can resonate with larger audiences. Entering mainstream Hindi cinema feels like a natural progression, giving me the chance to share stories that are both personal and universal. This film captures the essence of our world today, influenced by technology and human relationships, while staying true to real experiences.”
Deshpande’s earlier work includes his first feature film, 66 Sadashiv, followed by the musical biopic Swargandharva Sudhir Phadke, which featured original songs from renowned artists like Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar.
His upcoming Hindi film is set against the picturesque backdrop of Konkan and will delve into the human aspects of the digital divide. With a strong female lead, the story promises to weave together deep emotional experiences with a visually rich landscape.
