RCB Women Celebrate Historic WPL Title Amid Challenges

After a remarkable victory in the Women’s Premier League, Shreyanka Patil of Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women’s team expressed heartfelt appreciation for captain Smriti Mandhana. She dedicated the team’s win to Mandhana, acknowledging her strength during a tough personal time leading up to the tournament.

During a post-match interview, Shreyanka emphasized how much this victory meant for Mandhana. “Smriti has faced a lot in the last month and a half, so this win is truly special. I want to dedicate this victory to her,” she stated.

Shreyanka also praised head coach Malolan Rangarajan for his leadership in his first season, saying, “It’s special for all of us to win under his guidance.”

Dominant Performance Secures the Title

The RCB Women’s team put on an impressive display in the final, successfully chasing down a challenging target. Mandhana set the tone with a strong 87 runs, while Georgia Voll added a thrilling 79. Their partnership was key in achieving a record run chase, highlighting RCB’s growth into a formidable team in the league. This victory marked the second title for RCB, establishing Mandhana as a significant figure in the league’s history.

Mandhana Faces Personal Challenges

On a personal note, Mandhana has been navigating a tough period after her engagement to music composer Palash Muchhal was called off. She addressed the situation publicly on December 7, sharing that both families had decided to cancel the wedding amid growing speculation and scrutiny.

In her statement, she expressed a desire for privacy while wrapping up the matter. The wedding had drawn a great deal of public interest, especially after the success of the Indian Women’s team in the World Cup, and with the couple having recently exchanged rings at a high-profile event.

Initially set for November 23, 2025, the ceremony was postponed after her father experienced a medical emergency, followed by Muchhal requiring hospitalization due to stress. Facing these challenges, both families decided to cancel the wedding.

The situation sparked numerous rumors, including unfounded claims against Muchhal, which his family quickly denied. Several players distanced themselves from wedding-related posts, while teammate Jemimah Rodrigues chose to remain in India to support Mandhana through these times.

Muchhal eventually released a statement expressing his wish to move on and indicated potential legal action against those spreading false information.

Amid these personal trials, Mandhana’s focused leadership and performance on the field stood out. As RCB celebrated their latest WPL title, Shreyanka’s tribute captured the essence of the team spirit—a victory rooted not just in the game, but in overcoming adversity together.
