The anticipation for Awarapan 2 is building up, with expectations high for a strong box office debut. To make the most of this excitement, the original Awarapan (released in 2007) will hit theaters again, just two weeks ahead of the sequel’s premiere.
An insider confirmed that the re-release is set for July 31. The first movie continues to resonate with audiences thanks to its memorable cast, compelling storyline, and, notably, its unforgettable music. This nostalgia has prompted the decision to bring it back to the big screen before Awarapan 2 launches.
Interestingly, this time, it will share the schedule with the major Hollywood release, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which debuts on July 30. While Spider-Man is expected to have a massive turnout, Awarapan is also anticipated to draw in viewers.
Although Awarapan did not perform well initially, it has gained a cult following through television and streaming platforms. Many who missed it in theaters back then are eager to experience it now, and there’s a younger audience that has only recently discovered its charm. This nostalgic pull has led to successful re-releases of other films like Tumbbad and Sanam Teri Kasam, suggesting that Awarapan could also see a similar resurgence.
Directed by Mohit Suri, the original Awarapan featured Emraan Hashmi, Shriya Saran, and a strong supporting cast. The sequel, set for release on August 14, will star Emraan Hashmi alongside Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi, and is directed by Nitin Kakkar.
