The teaser for the upcoming Kannada film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, starring Yash, has sparked a formal complaint from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Women’s Wing. They approached the Karnataka State Women’s Commission, arguing that the teaser includes “obscene visuals” that may negatively affect women, children, and cultural norms. This controversy highlights ongoing discussions about the limits of content in Indian cinema.
Launched on January 8, coinciding with Yash’s 40th birthday, the teaser quickly attracted attention due to its bold and stylized imagery, including a brief intimate moment between Yash and a woman in a car. While many viewers praised its daring aesthetic, others found the content unsuitable for all audiences.
According to reports, the AAP Women’s Wing contends that the visuals “harm the social well-being of women and children” and disrespect Kannada cultural values. They have asked the Karnataka State Women’s Commission to push the state government to withdraw the teaser and take it down from social media. The party also called for stricter regulations on the distribution of such content and greater cultural accountability on digital platforms.
Usha Mohan, the AAP State Secretary, emphasized that the teaser was released without any age restrictions or content warnings, arguing that this compromises women’s dignity and exposes minors to inappropriate material. She urged immediate action from both the Commission and state authorities.
The Karnataka State Women’s Commission has acknowledged the complaint and plans to review it according to their standard procedures. As of now, there has been no official word from the Commission regarding potential actions.
Toxic, also featuring Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tara Sutaria, is set to hit theaters on March 19, 2026, and will compete at the box office with another major film, Dhurandhar Part 2.
