Incident in Gulf of Oman: Three Indian Sailors Killed in US Missile Strike
On Thursday, Congressman Rob Wittman expressed deep sorrow over the recent death of three Indian sailors. The unfortunate incident occurred when the US military conducted a missile strike on a ship off the coast of Oman. Wittman stated that the military is actively investigating the situation to understand what went wrong.
“Our hearts go out to the families who lost their loved ones in this tragic event,” Wittman shared in an interview. He emphasized the need to learn from such incidents to prevent them in the future.
The missile strike targeted the Palau-flagged ship M/T Settebello, which was reportedly carrying a crew of 28, including 24 Indian nationals. While 21 crew members were rescued, the loss of the three sailors is a significant tragedy.
According to the US Central Command, the vessel was struck due to alleged attempts to breach a blockade by transporting oil from Iran. They also released a video of the attack on social media.
In the days leading up to this incident, US naval forces also targeted two other vessels, M/T Jalveer and M/T Marivex, which had Indian crews. Thankfully, all crew members from these ships were rescued. It’s worth noting that two of the attacked vessels were previously sanctioned by the US Treasury Department.
