Trump claimed that he played a role in easing the tension between India and Pakistan through trade. This comment has been made by Trump numerous times, and the Congress found it amusing that Modi, who is considered a close friend of Trump, seems to distance himself from these remarks.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh shared a video on social media featuring Trump’s comments made during a recent event in Japan. He highlighted that Trump has mentioned this claim about 54 times in various countries, including the US, Saudi Arabia, and the UK. Ramesh’s tongue-in-cheek remark implied that due to these continuous assertions, Modi may no longer be inclined to show Trump affection.
During a speech at the United Nations, Trump reiterated his belief that he helped resolve the India-Pakistan conflict. However, India has consistently stated that such negotiations relied on direct discussions between military officials of both nations.
