Netflix Partners with Indian Ministry of Tourism to Showcase India’s Beauty

Netflix is teaming up with the Ministry of Tourism to promote India’s stunning landscapes and rich culture on a global scale. This unique partnership aims to incorporate the diverse travel spots of India into Netflix’s original shows, transforming screens into gateways that encourage real-life exploration.

The collaboration aims to blend storytelling with tourism promotion. Through thoughtful integrations, Netflix’s Indian productions will highlight various regions and support the “Incredible India” campaign.

V. Vidyavathi, Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, stated, “This partnership reflects our shared goal of showcasing the vibrant culture and diversity of India.”

Monika Shergill, Vice President of Content for Netflix India, added, “At Netflix, we believe that India’s stories are as diverse as its landscapes. Through this collaboration, we aim to celebrate India’s soul and create opportunities for local talent and communities while sharing its magic with the world.”

Over the years, Netflix has highlighted India’s diversity through various productions, like the enchanting Nilgiri forests in The Elephant Whisperers and the picturesque shores of the Andaman Islands in Kaala Paani. These cinematic settings not only enhance the stories but also inspire viewers to travel, similar to trends seen with shows like Emily in Paris.

In India, Netflix has established a far-reaching filming presence, covering 100 cities across 23 states in the last decade. This has created local job opportunities while sharing Indian narratives worldwide.

This collaboration marks Netflix’s first tourism partnership in South Asia and aligns with its global strategy of working alongside tourism boards in countries like France, Korea, and Brazil, enhancing cultural tourism through storytelling.

With the Ministry of Tourism on board, Netflix’s upcoming projects promise to deliver not only engaging stories but also a renewed sense of cultural pride and inspiration for global travel.
