AC Milan Signs Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea

AC Milan has secured a deal to bring French forward Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea, with the player committing to a contract that lasts until 2030. The Italian club invested around €42 million to make this transfer happen, signaling a fresh start for Nkunku after a rollercoaster stint in the Premier League hampered by injuries.

Nkunku joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig in 2023 with high hopes but struggled to find a consistent spot in the team. Despite his talent, injuries limited his impact, leading to only 18 goals in 62 appearances. He played a crucial role in winning the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup earlier this summer. However, he only featured in 11 Premier League matches over two seasons, which led to his move to Italy.

In an official statement, AC Milan expressed their happiness about the signing: “We are thrilled to announce the permanent transfer of Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea FC. He has signed a contract with us until June 30, 2030. Nkunku will be wearing the number 18 shirt.”

Nkunku began his football journey at Paris Saint-Germain and had impressive years at RB Leipzig, scoring 70 goals in 172 matches and winning two DFB-Pokal titles, along with the Bundesliga Golden Boot for the 2022/23 season.

On the international front, Nkunku has represented France since 2022, earning 14 caps and scoring one goal for his national team.

Milan aims to use Nkunku’s skills to boost their chances of returning to the top of domestic football and making significant strides in European competitions. They praised his ability to break down defenses with both creative and precise play.

In other news, Chelsea is also preparing to loan striker Nicolas Jackson to Bayern Munich for the upcoming season.
